Al-Qiyamah [The Resurrection] 40 verses, revealed in Makkah


(75) Surat Al-Qiyamah سُورَة القِيَامَه

75:1

لاَ أُقْسِمُ بِيَومِ القِيَامَةِ

I swear by the Day of Resurrection;

La 'Uqsimu Biyawmi Al-Qiyamahi

75:2

وَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ

And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer).

Wa La 'Uqsimu Bin-Nafsi Al-Lawwamahi

75:3

أَيَحسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَلَّننَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ

Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones?

'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insanu 'Allan Najma`a `Ižamahu

75:4

بَلَى قَادِرِينَ عَلَى أَننُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ

Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers.

Balá Qadirina `Alá 'An Nusawwiya Bananahu

75:5

بَل يُرِيدُ الإِنسَانُ لِيَفجُرَ أَمَامَهُ

Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins.

Bal Yuridu Al-'Insanu Liyafjura 'Amamahu

75:6

يَسأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَومُ القِيَامَةِ

He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?"

Yas'alu 'Ayyana Yawmu Al-Qiyamahi

75:7

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ البَصَرُ

So, when the sight shall be dazed,

Fa'idha Bariqa Al-Başaru

75:8

وَخَسَفَ القَمَرُ

And the moon will be eclipsed,

Wa Khasafa Al-Qamaru

75:9

وَجُمِعَ الشَّمسُ وَالقَمَرُ

And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.)

Wa Jumi`a Ash-Shamsu Wa Al-Qamaru

75:10

يَقُولُ الإِنسَانُ يَومَئِذٍ أَينَ المَفَرُّ

On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?"

Yaqūlu Al-'Insanu Yawma'idhin 'Ayna Al-Mafarru

75:11

كَلاَّ لاَ وَزَرَ

No! There is no refuge!

Kalla La Wazara

75:12

إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَومَئِذ ٍ المُستَقَرُّ

Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day.

'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Mustaqarru

75:13

يُنَبَّأُ الإِنسَانُ يَومَئِذ ٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ

On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions).

Yunabba'u Al-'Insanu Yawma'idhin Bima Qaddama Wa 'Akhkhara

75:14

بَلِ الإِنسَانُ عَلَى نَفسِه ِِ بَصِيرَة ٌ

Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds].

Bali Al-'Insanu `Alá Nafsihi Başirahun

75:15

وَلَو أَلقَى مَعَاذِيرَهُ

Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds).

Wa Law 'Alqá Ma`adhirahu

75:16

لاَ تُحَرِّك بِه ِِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعجَلَ بِهِ

Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith.

La Tuĥarrik Bihi Lisanaka Lita`jala Bihi

75:17

إِنَّ عَلَينَا جَمعَه ُُ وَقُرآنَهُ

It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Qur'an),

'Inna `Alayna Jam`ahu Wa Qur'anahu

75:18

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاه ُُ فَاتَّبِع قُرآنَهُ

And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Qur'an's) recital.

Fa'idha Qara'nahu Fa Attabi` Qur'anahu

75:19

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَينَا بَيَانَهُ

Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you,

Thumma 'Inna `Alayna Bayanahu

75:20

كَلاَّ بَل تُحِبُّونَ العَاجِلَةَ

Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world,

Kalla Bal Tuĥibbūna Al-`Ājilaha

75:21

وَتَذَرُونَ الآخِرَةَ

And leave (neglect) the Hereafter.

Wa Tadharūna Al-'Ākhiraha

75:22

وُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَومَئِذ ٍ نَاضِرَة ٌ

Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant).

Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Nađirahun

75:23

إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَة ٌ

Looking at their Lord (Allah);

'Ilá Rabbiha Nažirahun

75:24

وَوُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَومَئِذ ٍ بَاسِرَة ٌ

And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad),

Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Basirahun

75:25

تَظُنُّ أَنيُفعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَة ٌ

Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them;

Tažunnu 'An Yuf`ala Biha Faqirahun

75:26

كَلاَّ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِي

Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit),

Kalla 'Idha Balaghati At-Taraqi

75:27

وَقِيلَ مَنرَاق ٍ

And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?"

Wa Qila Man Raqin

75:28

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الفِرَاقُ

And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death);

Wa Žanna 'Annahu Al-Firaqu

75:29

وَالتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ

And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded)

Wa At-Taffati As-Saqu Bis-Saqi

75:30

إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَومَئِذ ٍ المَسَاقُ

The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)!

'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Masaqu

75:31

فَلاَ صَدَّقَ وَلاَ صَلَّى

So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur'an, in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed!

Fala Şaddaqa Wa La Şallá

75:32

وَلَكِنكَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى

But on the contrary, he belied (this Qur'an and the Message of Muhammad SAW) and turned away!

Wa Lakin Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá

75:33

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَهلِه ِِ يَتَمَطَّى

Then he walked in full pride to his family admiring himself!

Thumma Dhahaba 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Yatamaţţá

75:34

أَولَى لَكَ فَأَولَى

Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!

'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá

75:35

ثُمَّ أَولَى لَكَ فَأَولَى

Again, woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!

Thumma 'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá

75:36

أَيَحسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَنيُترَكَ سُدى ً

Does man think that he will be left Suda [neglected without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord (Allah) on him]?

'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insanu 'An Yutraka Sudáan

75:37

أَلَم يَكُ نُطْفَة ً مِنمَنِيّ ٍ يُمنَى

Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge of semen) poured forth?

'Alam Yaku Nuţfatan Min Maniyin Yumná

75:38

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَة ً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّى

Then he became an 'Alaqa (a clot); then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion.

Thumma Kana `Alaqatan Fakhalaqa Fasawwá

75:39

فَجَعَلَ مِنهُ الزَّوجَينِ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثَى

And made him in two sexes, male and female.

Faja`ala Minhu Az-Zawjayni Adh-Dhakara Wa Al-'Unthá

75:40

أَلَيسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنيُحيِيَ المَوتَى

Is not He (Allah Who does that), Able to give life to the dead? (Yes! He is Able to do all things).

'Alaysa Dhalika Biqadirin `Alá 'An Yuĥyiya Al-Mawtá
