89:1 | وَالفَجْرِ By the dawn; Wa Al-Fajri |
89:2 | وَلَيَالٍ عَشر ٍ By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah), Wa Layalin `Ashrin |
89:3 | وَالشَّفعِ وَالوَترِ And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). Wa Ash-Shaf`i Wa Al-Watri |
89:4 | وَاللَّيلِ إِذَا يَسرِ And by the night when it departs. Wa Al-Layli 'Idha Yasri |
89:5 | هَل فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَم ٌ لِذِي حِجْر ٍ There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! Hal Fi Dhalika Qasamun Lidhi Ĥijrin |
89:6 | أَلَم تَرَ كَيفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَاد ٍ Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 'Alam Tara Kayfa Fa`ala Rabbuka Bi`adin |
89:7 | إِرَمَ ذَاتِ العِمَادِ Who were very tall like lofty pillars, 'Irama Dhati Al-`Imadi |
89:8 | الَّتِي لَم يُخلَقمِثلُهَا فِي البِلاَدِ The like of which were not created in the land? Allati Lam Yukhlaq Mithluha Fi Al-Biladi |
89:9 | وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخرَ بِالوَادِ And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? Wa Thamūda Al-Ladhina Jabū Aş-Şakhra Bil-Wadi |
89:10 | وَفِرعَونَ ذِي الأَوتَادِ And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)? Wa Fir`awna Dhi Al-'Awtadi |
89:11 | الَّذِينَ طَغَوا فِي البِلاَدِ Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). Al-Ladhina Ţaghaw Fi Al-Biladi |
89:12 | فَأَكثَرُوا فِيهَا الفَسَادَ And made therein much mischief. Fa'aktharū Fiha Al-Fasada |
89:13 | فَصَبَّ عَلَيهِم رَبُّكَ سَوطَ عَذَاب ٍ So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. Faşabba `Alayhim Rabbuka Sawţa `Adhabin |
89:14 | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالمِرصَادِ Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 'Inna Rabbaka Labialmirşadi |
89:15 | فَأَمَّا الإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ فَأَكرَمَه ُُ وَنَعَّمَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكرَمَنِ As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." Fa'amma Al-'Insanu 'Idha Ma Abtalahu Rabbuhu Fa'akramahu Wa Na``amahu Fayaqūlu Rabbi 'Akramani |
89:16 | وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيهِ رِزقَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" Wa 'Amma 'Idha Ma Abtalahu Faqadara `Alayhi Rizqahu Fayaqūlu Rabbi 'Ahanani |
89:17 | كَلاَّ بَل لاَ تُكرِمُونَ اليَتِيمَ Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! Kalla Bal La Tukrimūna Al-Yatima |
89:18 | وَلاَ تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ المِسكِينِ And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! Wa La Taĥađđūna `Alá Ţa`ami Al-Miskini |
89:19 | وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكلا ً لَمّا ً And you devour inheritance all with greed, Wa Ta'kulūna At-Turatha 'Aklaan Lammaan |
89:20 | وَتُحِبُّونَ المَالَ حُبّا ً جَمّا ً And you love wealth with much love! Wa Tuĥibbūna Al-Mala Ĥubbaan Jammaan |
89:21 | كَلاَّ إِذَا دُكَّتِ الأَرضُ دَكّا ً دَكّا ً Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, Kalla 'Idha Dukkati Al-'Arđu Dakkaan Dakkaan |
89:22 | وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالمَلَكُ صَفّا ً صَفّا ً And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, Wa Ja'a Rabbuka Wa Al-Malaku Şaffaan Şaffaan |
89:23 | وَجِيءَ يَومَئِذ ٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَومَئِذ ٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكرَى And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? Wa Ji'a Yawma'idhin Bijahannama Yawma'idhin Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insanu Wa 'Anná Lahu Adh-Dhikrá |
89:24 | يَقُولُ يَا لَيتَنِي قَدَّمتُ لِحَيَاتِي He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" Yaqūlu Ya Laytani Qaddamtu Liĥayati |
89:25 | فَيَومَئِذ ٍ لاَ يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. Fayawma'idhin La Yu`adhdhibu `Adhabahu 'Aĥadun |
89:26 | وَلاَ يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ And none will bind as He will bind. Wa La Yūthiqu Wathaqahu 'Aĥadun |
89:27 | يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفسُ المُطْمَئِنَّةُ (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! Ya 'Ayyatuha An-Nafsu Al-Muţma'innahu |
89:28 | ارجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَة ً مَرضِيَّة ً "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! Arji`i 'Ilá Rabbiki Rađiyatan Marđiyahan |
89:29 | فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, Fadkhuli Fi `Ibadi |
89:30 | وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي "And enter you My Paradise!" Wa Adkhuli Jannati |
