اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ القَمَرُ

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).

Aqtarabati As-Sa`atu Wa Anshaqqa Al-Qamaru

وَإِنيَرَوا آيَة ً يُعرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحر ٌ مُستَمِرّ ٌ

And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."

Wa 'In Yaraw 'Āyatan Yu`riđū Wa Yaqūlū Siĥrun Mustamirrun

وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهوَاءَهُم وَكُلُّ أَمر ٍ مُستَقِرّ ٌ

They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Qur'an), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)].

Wa Kadhdhabū Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwa'ahum Wa Kullu 'Amrin Mustaqirrun

وَلَقَدجَاءَهُممِنَ الأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيه ِِ مُزدَجَر ٌ

And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur'an) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),

Wa Laqad Ja'ahum Mina Al-'Anba'i Ma Fihi Muzdajarun

حِكمَة ٌ بَالِغَة ٌ فَمَا تُغنِ النُّذُرُ

Perfect wisdom (this Qur'an), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not,

Ĥikmatun Balighatun Fama Tughni An-Nudhuru

فَتَوَلَّ عَنهُم يَومَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَى شَيء ٍ نُكُر ٍ

So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.

Fatawalla `Anhum Yawma Yad`u Ad-Da`i 'Ilá Shay'in Nukurin

خُشَّعاً أَبْصَارُهُم يَخرُجُونَ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُم جَرَاد ٌ مُنتَشِر ٌ

They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,

Khushsha`aan 'Abşaruhum Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajdathi Ka'annahum Jaradun Muntashirun

مُهطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ يَقُولُ الكَافِرُونَ هَذَا يَومٌ عَسِر ٌ

Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."

Muhţi`ina 'Ilá Ad-Da`i Yaqūlu Al-Kafirūna Hadha Yawmun `Asirun

كَذَّبَت قَبْلَهُم قَومُ نُوح ٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُون ٌ وَازدُجِرَ

The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

Kadhdhabat Qablahum Qawmu Nūĥin Fakadhdhabū `Abdana Wa Qalū Majnūnun Wa Azdujira

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ~ُ أَنِّي مَغلُوب ٌ فَانْتَصِر

Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"

Fada`a Rabbahu 'Anni Maghlūbun Fantaşir

فَفَتَحنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاء ٍ مُنهَمِر ٍ

So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth.

Fafataĥna 'Abwaba As-Sama'i Bima'in Munhamirin

وَفَجَّرنَا الأَرضَ عُيُونا ً فَالتَقَى المَاءُ عَلَى أَمر ٍ قَدقُدِرَ

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

Wa Fajjarna Al-'Arđa `Uyūnaan Faltaqá Al-Ma'u `Alá 'Amrin Qad Qudira

وَحَمَلنَاه ُُ عَلَى ذَاتِ أَلوَاح ٍ وَدُسُر ٍ

And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,

Wa Ĥamalnahu `Alá Dhati 'Alwaĥin Wa Dusurin

تَجْرِي بِأَعيُنِنَا جَزَاء ً لِمَنكَانَ كُفِرَ

Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!

Tajri Bi'a`yunina Jaza'an Liman Kana Kufira

وَلَقَدتَرَكنَاهَا آيَة ً فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad Taraknaha 'Āyatan Fahal Min Muddakirin

فَكَيفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

Fakayfa Kana `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

وَلَقَديَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad Yassarna Al-Qur'ana Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

كَذَّبَت عَاد ٌ فَكَيفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

Kadhdhabat `Ādun Fakayfa Kana `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

إِنَّا أَرسَلنَا عَلَيهِم رِيحا ً صَرصَرا ً فِي يَومِ نَحس ٍ مُستَمِرّ ٍ

Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.

'Inna 'Arsalna `Alayhim Riĥaan Şarşaraan Fi Yawmi Naĥsin Mustamirrin

تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُم أَعجَازُ نَخل ٍ مُنْقَعِر ٍ

Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms.

Tanzi`u An-Nasa Ka'annahum 'A`jazu Nakhlin Munqa`irin

فَكَيفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

Fakayfa Kana `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

وَلَقَديَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad Yassarna Al-Qur'ana Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

كَذَّبَت ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ

Thamud (people also) belied the warnings.

Kadhdhabat Thamūdu Bin-Nudhuri

فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرا ً مِنَّا وَاحِدا ً نَتَّبِعُهُ~ُ إِنَّا إِذا ً لَفِي ضَلاَل ٍ وَسُعُر ٍ

For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!"

Faqalū 'Abasharaan Minna Waĥidaan Nattabi`uhu 'Inna 'Idhaan Lafi Đalalin Wa Su`urin

أَؤُلقِيَ الذِّكرُ عَلَيهِ مِنبَينِنَا بَل هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِر ٌ

"Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"

'A'uulqiya Adh-Dhikru `Alayhi Min Baynina Bal Huwa Kadhdhabun 'Ashirun

سَيَعلَمُونَ غَدا ً مَنِ الكَذَّابُ الأَشِرُ

Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one!

Saya`lamūna Ghadaan Mani Al-Kadhdhabu Al-'Ashiru

إِنَّا مُرسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتنَة ً لَهُم فَارتَقِبْهُم وَاصطَبِر

Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient!

'Inna Mursilū An-Naqati Fitnatan Lahum Fartaqibhum Wa Aşţabir

وَنَبِّئهُم أَنَّ المَاءَ قِسمَة ٌ بَينَهُم كُلُّ شِرب ٍ مُحتَضَر ٌ

And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns).

Wa Nabbi'hum 'Anna Al-Ma'a Qismatun Baynahum Kullu Shirbin Muĥtađarun

فَنَادَوا صَاحِبَهُم فَتَعَاطَى فَعَقَرَ

But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).

Fanadaw Şaĥibahum Fata`aţá Fa`aqara

فَكَيفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

Fakayfa Kana `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

إِنَّا أَرسَلنَا عَلَيهِم صَيحَة ً وَاحِدَة ً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ المُحتَظِرِ

Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder.

'Inna 'Arsalna `Alayhim Şayĥatan Waĥidatan Fakanū Kahashimi Al-Muĥtažiri

وَلَقَديَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad Yassarna Al-Qur'ana Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

كَذَّبَت قَومُ لُوط ٍ بِالنُّذُرِ

The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings.

Kadhdhabat Qawmu Lūţin Bin-Nudhuri

إِنَّا أَرسَلنَا عَلَيهِم حَاصِبا ً إِلاَّ آلَ لُوط ٍ نَجَّينَاهُمبِسَحَر ٍ

Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night,

'Inna 'Arsalna `Alayhim Ĥaşibaan 'Illa 'Āla Lūţin Najjaynahum Bisaĥarin

نِعمَة ً مِن عِنْدِنَا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنشَكَرَ

As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).

Ni`matan Min `Indina Kadhalika Najzi Man Shakara

وَلَقَدأَنذَرَهُمبَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوا بِالنُّذُرِ

And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings!

Wa Laqad 'Andharahum Baţshatana Fatamaraw Bin-Nudhuri

وَلَقَدرَاوَدُوه ُُ عَنضَيفِه ِِ فَطَمَسنَا أَعيُنَهُم فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."

Wa Laqad Rawadūhu `An Đayfihi Faţamasna 'A`yunahum Fadhūqū `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

وَلَقَدصَبَّحَهُمبُكرَةً عَذَاب ٌ مُستَقِرّ ٌ

And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.

Wa Laqad Şabbaĥahum Bukratan `Adhabun Mustaqirrun

فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

"Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."

Fadhūqū `Adhabi Wa Nudhuri

وَلَقَديَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And indeed, We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad Yassarna Al-Qur'ana Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

وَلَقَدجَاءَ آلَ فِرعَونَ النُّذُرُ

And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) [through Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)].

Wa Laqad Ja'a 'Āla Fir`awna An-Nudhuru

كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذنَاهُم أَخذَ عَزِيز ٍ مُقْتَدِر ٍ

(They) belied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable to carry out what he Will (Omnipotent).

Kadhdhabū Bi'ayatina Kulliha Fa'akhadhnahum 'Akhdha `Azizin Muqtadirin

أَكُفَّارُكُم خَير ٌ مِن أُولَئِكُم أَم لَكُمبَرَاءَة ٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nuh (Noah), Lout (Lot), Salih (Saleh), and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), etc., who were destroyed)? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures?

'Akuffarukum Khayrun Min 'Ūla'ikum 'Am Lakum Bara'atun Fi Az-Zuburi

أَم يَقُولُونَ نَحنُ جَمِيع ٌ مُنْتَصِر ٌ

Or do they say: "We are a great multitude, and we shall be victorious.?"

'Am Yaqūlūna Naĥnu Jami`un Muntaşirun

سَيُهزَمُ الجَمعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ

Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs.

Sayuhzamu Al-Jam`u Wa Yuwallūna Ad-Dubura

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوعِدُهُم وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَى وَأَمَرُّ

Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.

Bali As-Sa`atu Maw`iduhum Wa As-Sa`atu 'Ad/há Wa 'Amarru

إِنَّ المُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلاَل ٍ وَسُعُر ٍ

Verily, the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).

'Inna Al-Mujrimina Fi Đalalin Wa Su`urin

يَومَ يُسحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِم ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ

The Day they will be dragged in the Fire on their faces (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!"

Yawma Yusĥabūna Fi An-Nari `Alá Wujūhihim Dhūqū Massa Saqara

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيءٍ خَلَقْنَاه ُُ بِقَدَر ٍ

Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

'Inna Kulla Shay'in Khalaqnahu Biqadarin

وَمَا أَمرُنَا إِلاَّ وَاحِدَة ٌ كَلَمح ٍ بِالبَصَرِ

And Our Commandment is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.

Wa Ma 'Amruna 'Illa Waĥidatun Kalamĥin Bil-Başari

وَلَقَدأَهلَكنَا أَشيَاعَكُم فَهَل مِنمُدَّكِر ٍ

And indeed, We have destroyed your likes, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

Wa Laqad 'Ahlakna 'Ashya`akum Fahal Min Muddakirin

وَكُلُّ شَيء ٍ فَعَلُوه ُُ فِي الزُّبُرِ

And each and everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).

Wa Kullu Shay'in Fa`alūhu Fi Az-Zuburi

وَكُلُّ صَغِير ٍ وَكَبِير ٍ مُستَطَر ٌ

And everything, small and big is written (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer) (See the Qur'an V.57:22).

Wa Kullu Şaghirin Wa Kabirin Mustaţarun

إِنَّ المُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّات ٍ وَنَهَر ٍ

Verily, The Muttaqun (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).

'Inna Al-Muttaqina Fi Jannatin Wa Naharin

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِيك ٍ مُقْتَدِر ٍ

In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).
